I loved just about everything about 2009.

2010, BRING IT ON!
Made spicy garbanzo soup and zucchini bread with Thao for dinner!

Watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!

Jealous?

For dinner tonight, we went to a Korean restaurant with our friends, Sara and John, who had never tried Korean food before. They asked lots of questions and were really interested in the various dishes and kept complimenting the food.

While we were enjoying our yummy meal, two girls sat down at the table behind me - apparently it was a friend trying to introduce her friend to Korean food, too. EXCEPT THIS GIRL WAS SO ANNOYING.

"Oh, do you like beef? You should try bulgogi..."

"WHAT! BULGO-WHAT?! WHAT IS THAT?!"

"It's marinated beef..."

"UHHH. WHAT?!"

Anyway, the annoying friend continues with her annoying annoyingness. After a bit, one of the servers shows up at their table with what I assume is their appetizer, and she honestly exclaims, "WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!"

Of course, everyone turns to look, because, um, hello... we're in a restaurant and you are YELLING AND BEING ANNOYING.

Her friend apologizes, "Sorry. She's never been here before."

Where? In freaking public? Dumbass.

Yesterday was good, good, GOOD!

We went to my sister's place for brunch and to exchange gifts. It was fun having someone else take the reigns, as we usually host my family's xmas festivities. Jessica, my sister, is in her first place of her own, and I felt really happy for her - the cute live tree, cooking a family meal in her kitchen, having Jarod clog her guest toilet... ya know - it's the small things in life.

My super pretty little sis!

Having a chef for a sister ain't bad ;)

With our momma.

Photographing Handsome is like photographing a dog. He.doesn't.sit.still.

Made off with a Snickers bar, Away We Go, a very cheap lotion set, a Lip Smackers Skittles-flavored lip gloss set (Mom: "Because you are always putting stuff on your lips."), and new hiking shoes. Sweet!

Last night, my dear friend Thao invited us over for dinner. To paraphrase, "I know we don't celebrate Christmas, but atheists need to eat, too." FO SHO.

And HECK YES, WE ATE.

And now, why you're really here:

Ho, ho, ho!

I'm too exhausted to recap this glorious day, but I'm not too tired to share the insanely awkward/hilarious/wtf moment of today.

As gifts for our significant others, my mother purchased Starbucks gift cards - good gift, yes? EXCEPT WHEN THE NAME ON THE CARD IS NOT THE NAME OF ANYBODY WE KNOW.

Sister: "Mom. Oh my god. His name is not 'Jose.'"
Mom: "What? Jose. That's what I wrote."
Sister: "Mom. His name is 'Jorge.'"
Mom: "Look - I wrote 'Jose.'"

Me: "Mom, put an 'r' between the 'o' and 's' and turn the 's' into a 'g.'"

Mom: "Oooooh. His name is George?"

ALL THIS TIME. ALLLLL THIS TIME. SHE THOUGHT HIS NAME WAS JOSE.

TOO EXCELLENT TO PROCESS IN MY BRAIN.

I hope your day ruled.

The best part of today was doing the conga with Broughton. I wish I had a picture, but I guess I will always have the memory.

Aaaaaannnd GAG.

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

One thing of which I am quite proud is that our dogs must wait to be released from a sit/stay before consuming their food.

One thing of which I am not quite as proud is that Broughton DROOLS EVERYWHERE while he waits to be released from a sit/stay before consuming his food.

Meh.

WOW this time of year makes me happy!

Pretty trees!

Cookie-decorating parties!

Cute dogs in sweaters!

WOW. HAPPY.

"Do I have insulation in my hair?"

"Wow."

This week has been insane. I feel like I'm functioning on half of my usual brain cell count.

I'm not going to shower tonight. DON'T JUDGE ME.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

I plan our meals for the week. Jarod did the grocery shopping on his way home from work - he apparently had some trouble finding some of the items, and I missed his call and didn't realize this until I was driving home at the end of my day.

Anyway, when I got home, Jarod listed each of the items he was couldn't find. Conveniently, he'd missed one item from each meal that I'd planned, leaving us unable to make ANYTHING for dinner.

Curry in a Hurry, folks. Find one near you.

Jarod and I have been known to compete and see who can make the highest pitched sound. Tonight, realizing that he has the biological advantage, I challenged him to make the lowest pitched sound he possibly could.

It wasn't pretty.

Sunday, December 13, 2009

It's weird being employed by someone else. I've never particularly loved tagging along on Jarod's work events, even if some of his coworkers are pretty badass. It's just the nature of those shindigs, I think. So, naturally, I wasn't pumped about my first ever company get-together.

Last night was my company's holiday party, which I was totally dreading but turned out to be absolutely wonderful. It was at a fancy Chinese restaurant (oxymoron, much?), which I'd been to once upon a time. I thought it would suck (because I hate Chinese food and remembered it sucking), but it turned out to be delicious.

My vegetarian eggroll!

My vegetarian sushi!

I also experienced White Elephant for the first time and stole this gem from a coworker. It all worked out for the best because the gift he then selected was also a Snuggie. This time, however, it was LEOPARD PRINT. I think it was all for the best.

And to wrap up a lovely first work event experience, my fortune read, "If you've got it, flaunt it."

Doesn't sound very philosophical, but I can dig it.

Monday, December 7, 2009

We worked on our wills tonight, which is pretty strange. It's insane to imagine a world where I don't exist or Jarod doesn't exist. I hope I die first.

It is 32*F outside, and all I can think about is how much I would love a bowl of ice cream.

I lied. I am also thinking about how much I would love a Cadbury Caramilk, angel hair pasta, a pickle, and a jalapeño cheese kolache.

What can I say? I have a one-track mind.
